The Prickly Pair's latest single 'It Takes Two to Cry'

The Prickly Pair's latest single "It Takes Two to Cry" is a nostalgic country track reminiscent of classic "cheating" songs.

The duo, comprised of Mason Summit and Irene Greene, met at USC Thornton School of Music in 2016, eventually forming The Prickly Pair in 2021 and recently getting engaged. Recorded in Nashville with the expertise of Wilco's Ken Coomer on drums and percussion, the track exudes a classic honky-tonk vibe, enhanced by Mason's mandolin and banjo skills.

Despite being in a happy relationship the duo elegantly blended their talents in vocals, guitar, bass, keyboards and storytelling to create a traditional country song about infidelity, with Mason portraying the married man and Irene taking on the role of the "other woman".

The duo's collaboration with music icons and their creative production process truly makes "It Takes Two to Cry" a standout addition to their discography. The song showcases their musical chemistry and storytelling prowess, cementing The Prickly Pair as a unique voice in the country music scene. Check out the single below.
