SWiiMS Releases New Music Video 'Fade Days' - A Tale of Love and Loss

Toronto-based band SWiiMS has released their newest video, "Fade Days," a poignant story of love and loss. Shot by the band's own Cian O'Ruanaidh, the video beautifully captures the intersection of these two emotions.

SWiiMS consists of Mai Diaz Langou on vocals and guitar, Colin Thompson on guitar and vocals, and Cian O'Ruanaidh on bass and vocals. The band was formed out of a desire to create music without compromise, and their career has been primarily focused on writing and recording. However, with the reopening of venues and rehearsal spaces, they have been able to bring their music to life on stage.

The band's journey began in the summer before the COVID-19 pandemic. Mai and Colin connected through a local Craigslist ad, and their musical chemistry was immediate. Together, they created their first EP, "Through Waves," with the addition of Cian later on. The EP received critical acclaim and radio play, even charting on the NACC charts.

"Into the Blue Night," their upcoming LP, showcases their diverse influences, drawing inspiration from genres such as 80s New Wave, 90s Indie Rock, Britpop, Shoegaze, and Dream Pop. The album, which was mostly written during the COVID-19 lockdowns, explores themes of love, relationships, grief, and the loss of faith in humanity.

The making of "Into the Blue Night" involved the entire band, with the songs written by SWiiMS. They enlisted the help of Toronto-based producer/engineer Josh Korody to bring a fresh perspective to their sound. The album was mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel in Toronto.

The first single from the album is "All I Die For," a track that delves into the early stages of a relationship and the emotions that come with it. The music video for the single was created by overlaying scenes of the band in a park with night-time shots of Toronto's streetcars. It is a visually captivating representation of the band's music.

SWiiMS' music has resonated with fans from all over the world and across different age groups. Their eclectic mix of styles and influences appeals to a wide range of listeners. They have been compared to artists such as Diiv, Slowdive, Beach House, and Alvvays, capturing the vibes and sounds that make their music unique.

"Fade Days" is a testament to SWiiMS' growth and evolution as a band. It represents a natural progression from their first EP, showcasing their signature sound while amplifying its elements. With "Into the Blue Night," SWiiMS emerges from the darkness, offering a new but familiar musical experience.
